Western
Isles Hospital
Visiting times in the Western Isles Hospital are from 2.30pm to 5pm and 6.30pm to 8pm except for
the protected evening meal times (see below). There is a quiet hour
until 2.15pm so that patients can sleep and relax after their lunch.
Visitors are discouraged from visiting in the mornings due to clinical
workload and to give a period of rest after ward rounds.
Uist
and Barra Hospital
Visiting times in Uist and Barra Hospital are open apart from protected
mealtimes (see below). There is a quiet time after
lunch between 1pm and 2.30pm so that patients can rest after lunch.
Visitors should check with nursing staff if it is suitable to visit
in the morning.
St
Brendan's
St
Brendan's Hospital, open visiting throughout the day, with the exception of Protected Mealtimes: 8.30am - 9.15am, 12noon - 2pm and 5.30pm - 6.15pm.
Protected Mealtimes
NHS Western Isles has made a commitment to protect patients' mealtimes from unnecessary and avoidable interruptions to enable staff to provide patients with support and assistance with meals - placing the patients' mealtimes as a priority in their day.
The Protected Mealtimes Policy applies to both visitors and staff. Visitors should avoid visiting friends and relatives during these times, unless they are giving assistance with feeding.
