NHS Western Isles and Pain Association Scotland are delighted to announce the launch of a new self referral form to the Chronic Pain Programme.
Anyone wishing to self refer to the Programme can simply pick up a form at reception at Western Isles Hospital or Uist and Barra Hospital, fill in their details and pop it into the red postbox. The form will then be sent straight to the Pain Association, who will contact you directly with details of local classes. However, patients can still be referred to the Programme by their GP and other health professionals if they prefer.
Monthly classes are held in Stornoway and Benbecula, and will launch in Barra for the first time later this year. A two day intensive self management primer will also be held in each location during the summer. All classes are delivered by Phil Sizer, a Chronic Pain Self Management professional who has worked with Pain Association Scotland for several years.
Dr. David Rigby said “We are delighted with this new self referral pathway for the Self Management Programme for Chronic Pain. The monthly classes are a really useful tool for helping people manage their pain and we are sure that this new easy self referral will be very popular".
