NHS Western Isles is hosting two events in South Uist to inform on ticks and Lyme disease. The events are an opportunity to share the key messages for raising awareness, including measures that can be taken to prevent infection.

The events are being held in Stoneybridge Hall.

Thursday 30th March from 7pm-9pm is an open event, local speakers will give a snapshot of the current situation and information will be available on actions that can be taken to avoid tick bites and what to do if you are bitten.

Friday 31st March from 10.30am-2.15pm is an event requiring participants to register to attend; anyone with an interest is welcome. This event will explore the epidemiology of Lyme disease and the impact on land use and management. Evidence of the presence of ticks will be presented.
