Response to media reports regarding local posts

With reference to media reports alleging possible 'job cuts' within NHSWI:

Media enquiries recently focused on fixed term contracts within the Board. As explained to the media, fixed term contracts that are coming to an end are considered individually and either come to an end or (where possible) are absorbed into the organisation. This is standard practice and has been for many years in public sector organisations. There is and has been no change to that process. Some reports have chosen to interpret the conclusion of fixed term contracts as job cuts or losses.

Individuals are aware at the beginning of a fixed term contract that the post is guaranteed for a fixed term only, sometimes for a time-limited project, and they take it up on that basis.
