Occupational Therapy Digital Photography Project – ‘The Light of Three’
The Western Isles Occupational Therapy service has completed a project that aimed to use digital photography to encourage creativity, learning, social interaction and inclusion. The project is set to culminate in a special exhibition in An Lanntair, Stornoway.
The digital photography project. ‘The Light of Three’ was taken forward by NHS Western Isles’ Occupational Therapy Department, and the exhibition will highlight the work of three participants.
NHS Western Isles Occupational Therapist (Mental Health), Kathryn Chisholm explained: “Occupational Therapy is based on the principle that meaningful activity is central to an individual’s health and wellbeing. It can be delivered on a one-to-one basis, or in a group, and the OT digital photography project ‘The Light of Three’ is a good example of the latter.”
She added: “The ‘Light of Three’ project enabled individuals to select an activity that is meaningful to them, which can be further developed beyond the life of this project. Each participant within the group had to capture three images inspired by the theme of light in three different locations. The exhibition will include landscapes, cityscapes and images taken from the participants communities.
The exhibition will be on display at An Lanntair Stornoway from the 19th of October until the 31st of October.
