3rd February 2010
An eye-catching and informative new website aimed at parents and parents-to-be has recently been launched by NHS Western Isles.
The ParentingWI site offers a wide range of useful and topical information. This includes information and support from the early stages of pregnancy, to the birthing process, babyhood, toddlerhood, childhood - and beyond. Additional benefits include local health-related news, information on local parenting groups, as well as access to local and national support networks. This includes the Healthy Start scheme, which helps families obtain free vouchers every week which they can then swap for milk, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and infant formula milk. Free Vitamins are also available through the Healthy Start.
The site also contains information and links to the local Health Visiting team and Maternity Services, contact details to GP Surgeries and local hospitals, and additional local agency links.
To further promote the site, we are thankful to those families from within the Western Isles who kindly allowed their photographs to be taken for use within the website. To access the site simply visit www.wihb.scot.nhs.uk/parentingwi
The site was jointly developed by the NHSWI Health Visiting team, Maternity Service, and Health Promotion Department. For further information please contact Marissa MacLennan, Health Information & Resources Officer, Health Promotion Department, tel. 01851 701545 or email marissa.maclennan@nhs.net
