About Us

Heading 2

The Western Isles Health and Social Care Partnership brings together the NHS, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, and the Third and Independent Sectors.

The Partnership is committed to helping people achieve and maintain their best possible level of wellbeing and to work in partnership to create new models of health and social care.

It takes forward the work of the Western Isles Integration Joint Board – a public body formed in 2014 through Scottish Government legislation, now responsible for the planning and delivery of a range of delegated health and social care services across the Western Isles.

Scottish Government has produced statutory guidance and advice around health and social care integration produced to support the Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act 2014. Topics comprise:

  • planning for improvement
  • measuring performance
  • finance
  • governance
  • working with partners

Scottish Government has produced the document Roles, Responsibilities and Membership of the Integration Joint Board; Guidance and advice to supplement the Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Integration Joint Board) (Scotland) Order 2014 which provides further advice to supplement the existing legislation. The document focuses on the roles, responsibilities and membership of Scotland's Integration Joint Boards.

As a separate legal entity (as defined in the arrangements of Public Bodies (Joint Working)
(Scotland) Act 2014), the Integration Joint Board (IJB) is required to have an approved Risk
Management Strategy which ensures processes are in place to identify Strategic Risks faced
by the IJB.

The strategy has been produced with reference to the Corporate Risk Management Strategies
of NHS Western Isles and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar alongside benchmarked good practice.
The aim of the strategy is to ensure that there is a robust and effective framework in place to
manage strategic risks. You can access the strategy here.
