A Warm Welcome for Everyone This Winter

During the cold winter months in the Western Isles, staying warm and maintaining social connections is especially important, particularly during the long, dark days. Across the Islands there are welcoming places and activities where people can enjoy a hot drink, friendly conversation, and companionship.

As temperatures drop and energy costs continue to rise, local communities are coming together to offer friendly, warm spaces. Many of these spaces are free, and can be found in community centres, libraries, churches or other suitable local venues. They can offer a warming bowl of soup, a hot drink or snack in a friendly environment whilst also letting people catch-up with the local news.

These ‘hubs’ are open to everyone, young and old, who can benefit from a warm, comfortable place to spend a few hours catching up with neighbours or friends or just to pop in to read a newspaper or book. These initiatives reflect the strong community spirit of the Western Isles, ensuring everyone has a warm and welcoming place to go.

Whether you’re looking to connect with others, enjoy a hot drink, or participate in fun activities, these spaces are here to support you. Make the most of these opportunities to stay warm, make friends, and enjoy the vibrant community life this winter.
