Board Vice Chair
Published on 9 December 2022
NHS Western Isles is disappointed to confirm that Non Executive Director and Vice Chair of Western Isles Health Board, Tim Ingram, has recently confirmed his decision to resign from the Board.
Tim has been an experienced and respected member of the Board and made an extremely valuable contribution to the Board during his time as a Non Executive Director. Tim will leave the Board at the end of this month.
Tim brought to the Board a wealth of knowledge and made a significant input, in particular support for the improvement of risk management processes both in the Health Board and Integrated Joint Board, and as Chair of the Healthcare Governance and Audit Committee.
Tim has regrettably chosen to resign as a result of the personal and relentless negative campaign directed towards him, in particular following his appointment as Vice Chair. This ongoing crusade has had a very negative impact on Tim personally. Tim didn't want to become a distraction from the essential work undertaken by NHS Western Isles and expressed his sincere thanks to Board colleagues for their support.
Board Chair Gillian McCannon said: “I would like to take this opportunity to firstly thank Tim sincerely and on behalf of Western Isles Health Board for his input and dedication. We are bitterly disappointed that Tim has decided to resign from Western Isles Health Board, but respect and fully understand his decision in the circumstances. Tim was appointed on merit, based on his knowledge and experience, and the value that he brought to the Board and to local health services should not be underestimated. He has been generous throughout his time on the Board in terms of sharing knowledge, experience and support. Tim is also a gentleman and is well respected by his Non Executive and Executive colleagues.
“We are disappointed in terms of the circumstances surrounding Tim’s resignation, and must say this type of ongoing negative publicity campaign also concerns us in terms of how it reflects on the Western Isles as an inclusive place to live and work.
“I ask that Tim be afforded the respect and privacy he deserves following this announcement, and that he is not subjected to any further personal detriment.”
