Celebrating local unsung heroes

Islanders are reminded that there is still time to nominate a member of NHS Western Isles staff for the Scottish Health Awards 2020 by visiting  www.scottishhealthawards.com/

This year there are sixteen award categories and in a year when staff across health and social care have been rising to the many challenges of working during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, there’s never been a better time to recognise and reward them for what they have been doing day-in and day-out. 

This could be a member of your local Community Nursing or Midwifery team who has gone above and beyond in caring for you or a member of your family; a Support Worker who has gone the extra mile; an Allied Health Professional who has helped you recover and rehabilitate after a recent illness; or a GP who has exceeded in what you could ever have hoped or expected from them. 

There are also awards to nominate for Top Teams, Leader of the Year Award and Innovation Award.   No matter what their title, or where they are based, if they have genuinely made a difference, please nominate them before the closing date of 30^th September (please note that nominations received after this date will not be accepted). 

In addition, there is also the People’s Choice Award which will be open to a public vote from 19 October.  Whilst it is expect that COVID-19 will feature across the majority of the award categories this year, the People’s Choice Award will specifically recognise staff and teams who have responded so magnificently to the challenge of caring for people during the pandemic, while at the same time maintaining a range of essential services and continuing to provide essential care.
