Important timescales for COVID vaccination

NHS Western Isles is reminding eligible individuals across the Western Isles that the second dose of the COVID vaccine should be administered at least eight weeks after the first dose.

The vaccination team is reminding everyone attending COVID vaccination drop-in clinics that they must ensure that their first vaccination dose was at least eight weeks previously, otherwise they will not be able to receive the second dose when they attend.

Tested positive?

It is also important to point out that anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 must wait at least 28 days before receiving a COVID vaccine (either first or second dose). If this affects anyone who has an appointment scheduled, you should contact the Western Isles COVID Vaccination phoneline to reschedule your appointment – 0808 196 8383 or email wi.covidvax@nhs.scot

You should also ensure that you do not attend a drop-in clinic until you have waited at least 28 days after testing positive.
