Medical Ward 2 re-opened

Medical Ward 2 in Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway has today re-opened to admissions.

The ward was temporarily closed on March 11, after a number of cases of COVID-19 were linked to the ward.

The restricted visiting arrangements in place in both Medical 2 and Surgical Ward have now been lifted and are as outlined on the NHS Western Isles website: visiting hours are 2pm – 8pm and each patient can have two visitors at a time. Visiting slots no longer have to be pre-booked. https://www.wihb.scot.nhs.uk/i-am-a-visitor/welcome/

All visitors to the hospital are reminded to hand sanitise on entry to the hospital and again when entering/leaving a clinical area and to wear a surgical mask (provided) for the duration of the visit (unless unable to do so for medical reasons). We would ask visitors not to visit if they feel unwell or have COVID symptoms.

Thank you for your patience during this time, and we apologise for any upset or inconvenience caused by the necessary temporary arrangements.
