NHS Eileanan Siar marks Volunteers’ Week 2022
Published on 30 May 2022
NHS Western Isles (NHS Eileanan Siar) will join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations this week in recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK and thanking them for all they do.
Volunteers’ Week takes place from June 1 – 7, and this is the 38th year that the immeasurable contribution of volunteers has been formally recognised.
The contribution of volunteers is often unseen and unrecognised by many, visible only through the incredible impact of their volunteering. However, the coronavirus pandemic has rightly raised the profile of volunteering and more people than ever therefore are aware of the immense contribution being made every single day by volunteers across the UK. An imaginative example of this in the Western Isles is the sewing of fabric bags for the NHS Patient Belongings Bags Project, which was done in conjunction with the Western Isles Volunteer Centre.
This Volunteers’ Week NHS Eileanan Siar will be thanking and celebrating our dedicated volunteers, by holding an outdoor celebration tea and by sharing thank you messages on our social media accounts.
NHS Western Isles Chief Executive, Gordon Jamieson, said: Volunteers' Week is a chance to celebrate, recognise and say thank you for the fantastic contribution our volunteers make. Thanks to them the local community has benefited from the generosity and selflessness of those who give freely of their time to serve and support others.”
