NHS Western Isles Research and Innovation Digital Fayre 

NHS Western Isles is holding a Digital Fayre event on Tuesday February 28^th 2023 in Stornoway.  

Funded by Interreg Europe, the event offers an opportunity for members of the public to drop in and out to find out more information and to join in discussions around digital research and innovation. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to contact Marion MacInnes, NHS Western Isles Research and Innovation Project Manager, by email marion.macinnes@nhs.scot  

In the morning Martin Malcolm, Head of Public Health Intelligence and Information Services, NHS Western Isles, will give an overview of the Interreg funded projects his team has recently been involved in and share outcomes of completed projects.  

There will then be a session involving all innovative business start-ups who participated in the IT4anxiety UK Hackathon with demonstrations and presentations from winners Kindspace and both runners up VR Hive and Cerina.   

There is growing evidence that technological solutions can expand and complement conventional medical protocols. Technological innovations offer exciting new perspectives for healthcare. NHS Western Isles Research and Innovation projects are collaborations between mental health professionals, users and small and medium enterprises and start-ups, and also involve universities, research centres, higher education establishments and public authorities Projects focus on development and trialling of innovative solutions, using digital technology that is designed to support a person with lived experience of anxiety. The potential solutions created will also be designed with an aim to aid carers and mental healthcare professionals in their roles.  

The event opens at 9.45am in the Caladh Inn, Stornoway, with the first presentation on current digital mental wellbeing projects taking place at 10am. There will be an introduction to the IT4Anxiety project at 10.45am, and demonstrations from start-ups at 11.30am. A drop-in opportunity to meet with and ask questions to the NHS Western Isles Research and Innovation team will take place between 12.30pm and 1.30pm. A light lunch will be provided between 1.30pm and 2pm and there will be a further opportunity to drop-in and ask questions between 4pm and 6pm.The NHS Western Isles Research and Innovation team would be pleased to meet with interested parties to share information, discuss these topics and answer any questions.  

The event is supported by several key stakeholders including DHI Scotland, UHI Health, social care and life sciences and the local branch of Penumbra who will all support networking at the event.
