NICOLSON INSTITUTE: TEENAGE BOOSTER IMMUNISATIONS
Published on 28 February 2025
The School Nursing Team will be carrying out teenage booster vaccinations at the Nicolson Institute on the 11th & 12th March.
Consent forms have been issued to pupils in S3 and above who may have missed a previous opportunity to have their vaccines. Please return these completed forms to the school office as soon as possible. Even if you are not taking the vaccine, you should still return the consent form.
The teenage booster immunisations include the Diphtheria, Tetanus & Polio (DTP) vaccine, the Meningitis vaccine, and the Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR) vaccine. These are all serious diseases that can be life-threatening.
You can find out more information about the immunisations for young people at: https://www.nhsinform.scot/healthy-living/immunisation/when-to-immunise/young-people-from-11-to-24-years/
Pupils who may require alternative arrangements for their immunisations will be invited to an appointment at a school nursing clinic at the Western Isles Hospital.
Any home-schooled pupils of S3 age and above who wish to receive their teenage booster immunisations are being encouraged to contact the team to arrange an appointment at a clinic.
The team has also completed the HPV vaccination programme in schools in the Western Isles, but if any S1 aged home-schooled children have missed their HPV vaccine and would still like to receive it, please contact the team.
