The online art therapy research pilot ran for 8 weeks with funding and support from the Mpower project. A total of 8 participants joined in weekly online sessions delivered by fully qualified art therapists. Recruitment to the pilot was supported by third sector agencies based in the Western Isles and included referrals from Alzheimer Scotland (Dementia Advisor) and Advocacy Western Isles (Uist).
Participant's feedback was extremely positive around the online experience, one participant stated “I am enjoying having an opportunity to chat about things, in a relaxed way in my own home".
Dr Ania Zubala, UHI Researcher who led the research stated " We would be grateful if you could share with us your thoughts about development of online art therapy services. Your responses will complement what we had learnt in the Online Art Therapy pilot which took place in 2022. This will help us understand more fully whether and/or how online art therapy might be useful for the Western Isles community.
