Heading 2
Safe disposal of LFD testing kits in household waste
Published on 7 September 2021
Islanders are being asked to ensure that all Lateral Flow Device (LFD) testing kits undertaken within their household are disposed of carefully, ideally inside a separate bag which is then placed within their general household refuse. This is in response to the local Comhairle nan Eilean Siar's Cleansing Department reporting loose tests having to be manually handled from overflowing bins or after spilling onto road surfaces.
Used LFD test kits are not considered to present any additional hazard, and can be disposed of in the usual general refuse (non-recyclable) bins.
