Share Your Views: Help Improve Walking and Cycling Routes in the Western Isles

NHS Western Isles has launched an online engagement tool to encourage user-friendly engagement with the community on a variety of topics relating to health and wellbeing across the Western Isles.

Commonplace – the user-friendly engagement tool – offers a range of opportunities for NHS Western Isles staff to better understand and respond to the needs of the community to accelerate positive change.

The first consultation is open now and is looking for the public to share their views on walking and cycling routes across the Western Isles.

We all know that being physically active is one of the best things we can do for both our physical and mental health.

Walking and cycling are great ways to increase our physical activity, as well as having a positive impact on the environment as the most sustainable mode of travel for short journeys.

NHS Western Isles will use this information to work with partners with the aim to improve frequently used walking and cycling routes across the Western Isles where possible.

Laura MacKay, Health Improvement Practitioner, and project lead, said:  “We work with members of the public, community groups and partners to promote active travel. We are looking forward to the results from the Commonplace engagement, to maximise opportunities for walking and cycling across the islands"
