Temporary disruption to phone lines at Western Isles Hospital and Laxdale Court

As part of the nationwide movement to digital landlines by 2027, NHS Western Isles is undertaking a switch from analogue phones to a digital system.

Western Isles Hospital and Laxdale Court in Stornoway are due to switch over to the new system on Tuesday 11th November 2025.

During this process, there may be a slight period of disruption to the phone lines between 9am and 1pm while the switch is happening.

For urgent calls over this short period, 01851 702997 will be available to the public throughout, which will direct to the Western Isles Hospital reception team.

Most telephone numbers will remain unchanged with the exception of Occupational Therapy. The Occupational Therapy team can now be contacted by phoning 01851 448525 (Lewis) and 01870 514002 (Uist).

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
