Western Isles represented at DigiFest, Scotland’s largest annual digital health and care event and the Scottish-Arctic connections webinar series

NHS Western Isles were invited to present on their innovative work in using technology in support of health at the event including presentation on their work as a Scottish case study for the Scottish-Arctic Connections webinar series.

NHS Western Isles mPower Community Navigators Louise Anne MacDonald and Isabel Morrison, took the opportunity to showcase the local mPower service during their digital session ‘mPower Western Isles Connecting Scotland Webinar ‘. 

The well attended online session detailed the work the team has more recently been involved in, including both the opportunities and challenges it has faced during the Coronavirus pandemic. The webinar can be viewed on YouTube at: https://bit.ly/34mMpuB

The Scottish Government and Danish Embassy hosted a session at the DigiFest event on rural digital health solutions as part of their Arctic Connections webinar series. 

The Arctic Connections webinar events are being run online from October 2020 to February 2021 on range of themes drawn from Scotland’s Arctic Policy Framework including rural health which Western Isles were invited to join as a case study.

NHS Western Isles case study ‘Increasing access to Psychological Therapies and Mental Wellbeing: digital benefits for remote communities in the Western Isles’, was provided by Dr. Alison Robertson, NHS Western Isles Consultant Clinical Psychologist, and Martin Malcolm, NHS Western Isles Head of Public Health Intelligence. 

The webinar, detailed experiences in addressing the difficulties in providing psychological and social support to remote areas via the use of  a range of digital tools.  The webinar can be viewed at: https://bit.ly/3nwyBp1
