You matter, talk to us

NHS Western Isles and partner organisations such as Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, third sector organisations and local businesses are promoting a local ‘You Matter, Talk to Us' campaign which is aimed at increasing people’s awareness of national mental health organisations offering help, support, and a listening ear.
You may be feeling worried, anxious, or stressed about one or a number of issues, such as money matters, sitting an exam, work, or friendship and relationship problems, which can mean sometimes our thoughts and feelings can overwhelm us. This can lead to other issues, such as stress, anxiety, and depression, where symptoms may include feeling very tearful, hopelessness and sadness, and losing interest in things you enjoyed before. Physical symptoms can also arise, such as feeling tired all the time, getting poor sleep, losing your sex drive, changes in your appetite, and feeling aches and pains.
As part of the campaign, a range of campaign vinyl stickers and posters have been developed which will be displayed on mirrors within workplaces and community settings across the Western Isles. For stickers for your workplace or community, email: alison.macdonald9@nhs.scot
Alison Macdonald, NHS Western Isles Senior Health Improvement Officer, said, “Some people find it hard to control their worries and feelings of anxiety are more constant and start to affect their daily lives. They may even notice themselves cancelling on planned events and isolating themselves from others. This is why we are raising awareness of the free support, which is available to all.
“We want people to recognise that anyone can experience mental health issues, at any point in their life, and these can affect everybody differently. This is why having good coping methods or having someone to talk to is so important."
