Day Hospital (Ambulatory Care Unit)

Until further notice, Day Hospital services have been relocated to the Ambulatory Care Unit at Western Isles Hospital. The Ambulatory Care Unit is located to the far right of the hospital's main entrance (opposite the Western Isles Dental Centre) and is clearly signposted.

The Day Hospital is based within Western Isles Hospital and provides tests and procedures to help with the assessment of a patient’s medical problems. The Day Hospital provides a wide variety of services, including:

  • Cardiac Clinics
  • Exercise Tolerance Tests
  • Monitor Clinics (Ambulatory ECG Recorders)
  • Echocardiograms (often referred to cardiac echo or simply an echo is a sonogram of the heart)
  • Infusion Service which includes: Chemotherapy, mAb therapies, blood transfusions, iron infusions, zoledronic acid infusions etc.
  • Hereditary Haemochromatosis monitoring and Venesections.
  • Monitor clinics: Ambulatory heart monitors and ambulatory blood pressure monitors.
  • TIA clinic – suspected transient ischaemic attack
  • Blood tests
  • GP Referrals
