Equalities Outcomes Consultation

As part of NHS Western Isles obligations as a public body under the Public Sector Equality Duty, we are in the process of revising our Equality Outcomes for 2025 – 2029. Your comments will shape our equality activities over the next four years. We are conducting this consultation in order to ensure that our equality outcomes are fit for purpose. The survey will close on the 24 February 2025.

Consultation on the Strategic Framework for Health and Social Care 2023 – 2026 (1st draft)

To improve people’s wellbeing and meet the challenge of sustaining care and support into the future, the next strategic plan for health and social care has now been finalised following public consultation.  The paper was approved at the Integrated Joint Board meeting on 21st November 2024. Long Term Conditions Framework – Consultation open from 23 April to 20 July 2025

Health Improvement Scotland's SCSP consultation

The Scottish Cervical Screening Programme (SCSP), is a population-based screening programme. It aims to reduce mortality and incidence rates from cervical cancer. Health Improvement Scotland (HIS) are developing standards which cover all areas of the cervical screening pathway. These standards are a review of the 2019 Cervical Screening Standards. HIS has opened a public consultation on the draft standards, and invites feedback from individuals and organisations. A Medical Drone Network for Scotland

Disability Commissioner (Scotland) Bill: Call for Views in British Sign Language (BSL) – Scottish Parliament – Citizen Space (Closed 17 May 2024)

Bill Opened 28 March 2024.  The Disability Commissioner (Scotland) Bill has been introduced by Jeremy Balfour MSP to establish a Disability Commissioner for Scotland. The Bill is a Member's Bill. Managed Clinical Networks

NHS Western Isles welcomes the participation of patient representatives. If you have experience of a particular illness or illnesses and would like to participate in one of our Managed Clinical Networks please get in touch.

A Managed Clinical Network is a network of a variety of health staff (including doctors, pharmacists, nurses, health visitors, physiotherapists and occupational therapists) and organisations from primary, secondary and community health care working together to make sure that high quality clinically effective services are fairly distributed.

If you decide you would like to be involved we can arrange an informal meeting. Following this there is a formal process of interview and induction for all volunteers and lay representatives at NHS Western Isles.  These meetings are accessible to all and can be video-linked to NHS locations across the Western Isles.

Investment in Health and Social Care in Barra and Vatersay.

Approval had been given for the Outline Business Case for the replacement of St Brendan’s Hospital and Care Home.  Work was undertaken to explore the feasibility of integrating health, social care, learning and community services and facilities on Barra and Vatersay and the provision of a single combined campus in Castlebay.  Consultations held have been retained for future reference.
