NHS Western Isles also offers a ‘Virtual Visiting’ service for hospital inpatients to enable inpatients to keep in touch with friends and family via video call.
Video calling is as convenient as a phone call, with the added value of face to face communication. The service is available seven days a week between 2pm and 4pm (though availability may be extended depending on need).
The video call will be made by the relative to the patient, who will use an NHS Western Isles ipad.
Arranging your virtual visit
If you wish to arrange virtual visiting with a patient, please contact the Ward Clerk of the ward that the patient is on. They will be able to liaise between the staff, patient and you on a mutually suitable day/time.
Please note at this time Virtual Visiting is available only to the patient's Named Person, or with their permission in the case of a patient without capacity.
Once your visit is scheduled, you can then select the relevant ward from the selection below at the time you have been allocated.
