Children aged 12-15 and the second dose of the COVID vaccine

Heading 2

Children aged 12-15 and the second dose of the COVID vaccine

Whilst the majority of young people aged 12-15 are only eligible for one dose of the COVID vaccine at present, there are individuals in this age group that are eligible for a second dose.

Young people aged between 12-15 who are considered to be Clinical Extremely Vulnerable (CEV) or who live in shielding households are due a second dose at eight weeks after the first dose. The first individuals in these groups are now eligible for a second dose of the vaccine, and will shortly receive invitation letters inviting them to attend an appointment.

We would urge individuals in this group to please attend for their scheduled appointment, to get the maximum protection that the vaccine provides.

We would ask that individuals remember to bring their appointment letter to their appointment where possible. Please also try to attend on time and if, for any reason, you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, please let us know by phoning 0808 196 8383 or emailing wi.covidvax@nhs.scot

If you are within one of the above eligible groups (i.e. aged 12-15 and Clinically Extremely Vulnerable or living in a shielding household) and it has been more than eight weeks since you had your first dose and you have not yet received an appointment letter, please contact us to arrange an appointment using the above details.
