Day Hospital (Ambulatory Care Unit)

The Day Hospital and Chemotherapy service is located within the Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) at Western Isles Hospital and provides tests and procedures to help with the assessment of a patient’s medical problems. The Day Hospital provides a wide variety of services, including:
- Cardiac Clinics
- Exercise Tolerance Tests
- Echocardiograms (often referred to cardiac echo or simply an echo is a sonogram of the heart)
- Infusion Service which includes: Chemotherapy, mAb therapies, blood transfusions, iron infusions, zoledronic acid infusions etc.
- Hereditary Haemochromatosis monitoring and Venesections.
- Monitor clinics: Ambulatory heart monitors and ambulatory blood pressure monitors.
- Blood tests
- GP Referrals
- Consultant Reviews
- Assessment
- PICC line care
- Uroflowmetry (often referred to as Flow Studies)
