Older People

Heading 2

The aim is for every older person, whatever their circumstances, to feel valued, supported and able to live well in their community. Growing older should be a time when people can enjoy life, stay connected, and know that help is there when it is needed.

Across the Western Isles, services and community organisations are working together to make this possible. Local groups, volunteers and neighbours also play a vital role in helping people to stay active, independent and included.

The focus for health is on prevention and early support, so that small challenges don’t become bigger problems. This means promoting wellbeing, reducing loneliness, and making sure people can access care at the right time and in the right place.

Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and connected in later life. For those who are more vulnerable, or who need extra help to live well, the community and services are committed to making sure those needs are met with dignity and compassion.
