Patient and carer information is a vital service within the NHS. All patients/carers should have access to clear, concise information to allow them to understand all aspects of their healthcare.

Patient and carer information is provided to ensure that patients/carers:

• are able to understand what is wrong;
• can make the most of their consultations;
• understand what is involved in any tests and/or treatments;
• are able to contribute to discussion regarding their care;
• feel reassured;
• are confident in self care;
• can identify sources of further information/self help groups/health care providers.

Our leaflets have been produced to a high standard and have been user tested with patients/carers in mind. Leaflets are available in other formats and languages on request.
