The aim of the Diabetes Specialist Nursing Service is to provide high quality diabetes care to its patients within a supportive and safe environment. We offer:

* provision of diabetes specialist nursing
* diabetes specialist nurse-led clinics
* provision of dietitian services
* visiting Consultant-led clinics – both at Western Isles Hospital and Uist & Barra Hospital.

The service is offered to adults, children and pregnant women.

We offer:

• specialist advice and services to adults, children and pregnant women
• specialist advice to health care practitioners in both primary and secondary care, as well as to schools and care homes.
• an adult and paediatric insulin pump service.

Lewis & Harris

• Diabetes Centre, Western Isles Hospital
• North Harris Medical Practice

Uists & Barra

• North Uist Medical Practice
• Benbecula Medical Practice
• South Uist Medical Practice
• Barra Medical Practice
• Uist & Barra Hospital
• St Brendan's Hospital

We also offer:

• telephone consultation
• Video-conference consultation
• home visits where required
• a digital upload/download for Insulin Pump users.

This service is offered to those who have received a confirmed diagnosed diabetes diagnosis. Patient referral should be made by health professionals via SCI-Gateway only.
