NHS Western Isles and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar are delighted to confirm that Nick Fayers has been appointed as Chief Officer of the Western Isles Integration Joint Board (IJB).
Nick Fayers takes over from Dr Ron Culley who moved on to a new role earlier this year.
Mr Fayers, who will take over the role of Chief Officer early next year, is a senior manager with 14 years’ experience in NHS and Social Care. His background spans operational management both in acute and community provision, commissioning and tertiary hospital delivery. He also has experience of service evaluation and redesign, and workforce planning and development.
Currently living in South Lakes, Nick Fayers will be joining the IJB from University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay.
He stated: “I’ve been visiting the Hebrides for the last 20 years and I'm really excited about coming to live permanently in the Western Isles. Initially I plan to take time to understand the needs of the diverse communities whilst developing a strategy for Health and Social Care with the Integration Joint Board. Above all, I'm looking forward to building relationships with new colleagues and drawing on their significant experience.”
He added: “Outside of work I've been a member of my local Mountain Rescue Team for 26 years. I'm an avid listener to music and enjoy landscape photography.”
NHS Western Isles Chief Executive, Gordon Jamieson, and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Chief Executive Malcolm Burr, jointly stated: “We are delighted that Mr Fayers has accepted the role of IJB Chief Officer. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in both health and social care planning and delivery, as well as some great ideas and enthusiasm for improving our local services. We look forward to welcoming him to the team.”
