The aim of the Macmillan Nursing Service is to provide a specialist cancer/palliative care service for people in the Western Isles, their families/carers and members of the multi-professional team within hospital and community settings.

• People who are affected by cancer at any stage in their illness.
• People with palliative care needs with any life limiting illness.

We offer:

• Specialist advice and support
• Signposting to help from other agencies
• Liaison between patients and local and mainland healthcare professionals
• Specialist pain and symptom control
• Specialist palliative and end of life care
• Bereavement support

Our teams are based in Stornoway and in Balivanich.

Referrals from healthcare professionals are preferred, however patients can self-refer but their GP will be contacted for additional professional information.
