Medical Ward 2 re-opened

NHS Western Isles has been able to re-open Medical Ward 2 in Western Isles Hospital today after a short period of closure.

The ward had been temporarily closed to new admissions on May 28 as positive cases of COVID-19 had been linked to the ward.

At an Integrated Management Team (IMT) meeting today (Monday), it was considered that the ward could be reopened to admissions. One contact bay will remain closed.

Designated visiting is again in place, in line with arrangements in the rest of the hospital. Patients will be permitted one visit every day from two visitors. There will be Essential Visiting only in the contact bay until further notice.

All visitors are asked in the strongest terms to ensure that they LFD test before visiting a patient in hospital, to help protect our patients and staff. Free test kits can be ordered at: https://test-for-coronavirus.service.gov.uk/order-lateral-flow-kits or by calling 119.

Visitors are reminded that they must ensure that they book all visits in advance.
